Cycling at Bondi Beach

As Sydney is hilly and doesn’t have many bike lanes, there are not many cyclists on Sydney’s streets. However, due to increasing traffic jams and plans the of the government to support cyclists, the cycling community is growing.

Motorists are will generally respect a cyclist who is confident, signals clearly, changes lanes correctly and keeps a good line, although a certain amount of traffic experience and skill is needed. The eastern suburbs are quite hilly, so be warned! Especially to master the long, steep hill on Bondi Road a good fitness is required. Remember, if in doubt, you can always walk your bike across busy roads or along the footpath. This is can also be helpful when you feel you can’t deal with the car traffic and need to get to a quieter section of the route. Take enough food and drinks if you are planning for a longer trip.
